Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officers recently raided a flat over at Marsiling. What they found inside really make people shake head. They arrested a Singaporean couple—the husband 38 years old, wife 32—after discovering illicit drugs and dangerous paraphernalia scattered all over the master bedroom floor.

The worst part? The couple’s two young sons—one 3-year-old toddler and one tiny 7-month-old baby—were inside that exact same messy room. Imagine that leh: toxic drugs and lighters just lying around within easy reach of a toddler who doesn’t know any better. Luckily, the CNB officers acted fast. They packed up tins of milk powder and diapers, rescued the kids, and handed them over to the Ministry of Social and Family Development’s Child Protective Service (CPS). Both parents got cuffed on the spot.

Singapore legal system don’t play play one, especially when drugs and kids are mixed together:

• Drug Charges: Under the Misuse of Drugs Act, for possession or consumption alone, you can get up to 10 years in prison, up to $20,000 fine, or both. Repeat offenders face mandatory jail time and caning. If the amount is high enough for trafficking? That one can go up to life imprisonment or capital punishment.
• Child Abuse & Neglect: Under the Children and Young Persons Act (CYPA), exposing helpless toddlers to hazardous environments is a serious crime. Parents convicted of ill-treating or endangering a child can face jail time up to 8 years, hefty fines, or both.

The Poor Children How? Who Take Care?

When both Papa and Mama get locked up, CPS steps in immediately:

• Family First: CPS will first check if any clean, safe extended family members—like Ah Gong, Ah Ma, uncles, or aunts—can take care of the boys.
• Foster Care: If no suitable relatives are available, the kids go to MSF foster families or approved children’s homes so they are properly cared for, fed, and safe.
