Siao liao! Secretary Find Out 6.5 Months Pregnant, Decide Company Bank Account Is Her Personal ATM (Get 18 Months Stay-Cation)

Aiya, pull up a plastic stool, make space for your Kopi-O Kosong, and let me fill you in on the full director’s cut of this legendary Singapore saga.

Imagine this lah: You go to sleep thinking you just put on a little bit of weight around the tummy from eating too much char kway teow and midnight prata. Then you go see doctor, and doc look at the scan, shake head, and say, “Wah, steady ah, 6.5 months already. Soon pop liao.”

Bro. Six point five months. That means the baby is practically knocking on the door asking for school fees already!

For normal people, what you do? You sit down, blur like sotong, panic, call your boyfriend or husband, and start calculating how many cans of milk powder $63,000 can buy.

For 30-year-old secretary Sim Shimin working at Ossia International Ltd? She got a much more “creative” solution.

As the company secretary, Sim had the ultimate power: she held the company’s bank account security token. Power corrupts, right? Absolute power… wah lao, make you transfer a whopping S$63,000 into your own personal bank account across 12 separate transactions in just about two months.

Think about the math for a second: 63 grand split over 12 hits is roughly $5,250 every few days. That’s not “aiyoh, need a bit of cash for baby clothes at Kiddy Palace,” that’s premier suite at Mount Elizabeth with a personal valet style!

The Masterplan (Which wasn’t very master)

So May 4, 2024, she kenna the big surprise. From May 7 to July 24, 2024, she start quietly sipping company money like bubble tea on a hot afternoon. 12 smooth transfers later, she casually packs her desk.

Then July 1 comes, and she guai-guai go on maternity leave. Steady.

Except, hor, when you take company money, you cannot just hand over the security token and say “eh bro, can you help me close one eye for the missing 63k?” Her colleagues keep asking for the token back, and she keep dragging, keep giving excuse after excuse. Finally, on July 24, the supervisor put foot down: “Eh, give me the token now, got urgent thing.”

The next day—July 25—the supervisor open the laptop, look at the bank statement, and confirm plus chop: Siao liao, money fly already.

The Photoshop & Graphic Design Legend

Now, this part really must give her a slow clap for the sheer kay-poh effort, even though it confirm go straight to the Institute of I-cannot-believe-you-thought-this-would-work.

As she was preparing to hand over her duties before going on leave, the company asked her to pass the baton. Fearing the jig was up, our girl opened up the company laptop and decided to moonlight as an Adobe Photoshop master. She went into the May, June, and July bank statements and started doing digital surgery! Just delete the unauthorized transfer lines, fix the balance numbers like a secondary school kid editing their report card with Correction Tape.

Boss look at statement: “Oh, wah, nice and clean! All balanced!” Boss look at actual bank account: “Eh… where is my sixty-three thousand dollars?”

Busted faster than you can say “Police report lodged.”

The “I Promise” Email & Court Saga

The moment the jig was up, Sim sent an email to her supervisor on the same damn day promising: “Boss, don’t worry, give me two years, I slowly pay you back hor.”

Bro, you stole $63k to pay for a baby that was arriving in like 6 weeks, where got two years to installment-plan the boss back?

When the hammer finally dropped in court over her four charges (including criminal breach of trust by employee and forgery—of which she pleaded guilty to three, with the last one taken into consideration by the judge), guess how much restitution she had paid back by September 2026?

Zero dollars and zero cents.

As reported by Shin Min Daily News, the judge gave her an 18-month stay-cation in Changi Prison. So now? The kid is already running around out there, and mama is doing time (with free confinement food, just minus the bubble tea and air-con).

Moral of the story, guys: Surprises in life sure got, 6.5 months pregnant can happen… but turning the company token into your personal DBS PayNow is definitely not in the confinement handbook.

Sippe Kopi-O finish, shake head, walk away.
