Hoppy Tuesday, Losers: Why Someone Dumped 23 Fluff-Balls in Seletar Like They Were Clearing Taobao Junk

Welcome back to another episode of “Singaporean Common Sense: Where got? Cannot find.”

If you thought the most dramatic thing happening in Singapore was ERP 2.0 IU unit positioning or fighting for the last piece of chicken wing at the mixed rice stall, think again.

Recently, some absolute clown-grade human being decided that Seletar Farmway was not a peaceful rustic corner, but rather a 24-hour dumpster for a literal family reunion of rabbits.

We aren’t talking about a lonely little Easter bunny left behind. Oh no. We are talking about a full-blown 23-rabbit mega-dump!

The Midnight Mission at Seletar

Picture the scene: It’s almost midnight on a quiet Friday (around 11:45 PM to be exact). Most people are already dreaming about Saturday brunch or scrolling TikTok in bed.

But not Derrick Tan, the legendary founder of animal welfare group Voices For Animals (VFA). He got a distress call about random bunnies hopping where they shouldn’t be.

Derrick and his team rushed down to Seletar Farmway by 12:20 AM and what did they find? Cardboard boxes lining the roadside like someone just moved house and left their emotional baggage on the curb.

Inside these boxes was a chaotic scene straight out of a low-budget horror film: 16 adults and 7 tiny newborn kits—some of which were barely a few days old! Talk about a family package deal, minus the consent.

The Peak Clown Behavior

To make matters worse, an eyewitness actually caught a vehicle lingering in the area before speeding off. When the witness confronted them, the driver gave the mother-of-all blur replies:

“Aiyo, if you want, you just take lor, we don’t want already.”

Bro. Bro. Do you think living breathing animals are like a plate of unwanted yong tau foo that you can just reject halfway through lunch because you suddenly feel like eating mala instead? The sheer audacity of treating 23 sentient lives like clearance-sale items is enough to make any uncle drop his Kopi-O.

Not Exactly a 5-Star Staycation

Upon inspection, these poor bunnies weren’t living the high life. They were swimming in their own urine, rocking deeply matted fur, covered in stains, bearing bite wounds from fighting in cramped spaces, and sporting long, wicked claws that looked like a Pontianak’s manicure.

Oh, and just to add cherry on top of this disaster Sundae? Several of the mama rabbits were suspected to be pregnant, meaning a sequel Bunny Apocalypse was loading right inside the womb.

Some blur sotong out there genuinely believe that dumping rabbits in grassy areas lets them live their best Tarzan life in the wild.

Hello?! Wake up your idea! You throw domestic rabbits into Singapore’s wilderness, and you’re basically signing them up for a VIP, all-you-can-eat buffet hosted by stray dogs, monitor lizards, and speeding heavy vehicles.

Guilty as Charged: The Price of Cruelty

Make no mistake—whoever did this is 100% guilty of heartless pet abandonment, severe neglect, and downright animal cruelty.

Treating sentient creatures like trash and leaving them to suffer in unhygienic conditions with untreated medical issues is completely unforgivable.

And before this Einstein thinks they can get away scot-free, let’s talk about the law. Under Singapore’s Animals and Birds Act, pet abandonment and animal cruelty are serious criminal offenses:

  • First-time offenders face a hefty fine of up to $15,000, imprisonment for up to 18 months, or both.

  • Separate charges for neglect and poor living conditions can add even more fines up to $10,000 and/or up to 12 months in jail.

  • The courts can also slam them with an animal-ownership disqualification order, banning them from ever keeping pets again.

Spa Day & Justice Incoming

Thankfully, the VFA squad stepped in. Not wanting to stress the traumatized fur-kids out further, they started with the essentials: a much-needed de-flea and de-mite spa treatment. Once these little guys recover from their ordeal and are medically stable, VFA will put them up for adoption.

As for the clown who dumped them? Your game is confirm plus chop up, macai. VFA is hunting down dashcam footage from the heavy vehicles parked nearby and handing the evidence straight to the Animal and Veterinary Service (AVS).

So, let this be a lesson. If your brain capacity is smaller than a rabbit bean and you cannot handle the responsibility of a pet, please—just stick to collecting cai png receipts. Leave the animal care to the pros, and stop treating our roadside like a trash disposal chute unless you want a very expensive, very uncomfortable date with the law!
