You think SCDF packed up and said, “Eh bro, system maintenance, come back tomorrow”? No chance, steady bombipi! The abangs immediately switched to Plan B. No riser? No problem! They grabbed giant, heavy fire hoses straight from the engine on the ground floor and dragged them up eight flights of stairs by hand!

Sadly, there was tragic news: one resident rescued from the kitchen passed away later in hospital, and two firefighters suffered burns. As for that Town Council dry riser pipe? Sibei jialat. SCDF is investigating, and the Town Council has to rectify that faulty riser fast fast!

2. The Circuit Road Midnight Blaze: The Sad Clutter Trap 🇸🇬

Just days earlier on July 28, 2026, at 2:05 AM in the middle of the night, a fire broke out on the 9th floor of Block 39 Circuit Road in MacPherson.

SCDF rushed down and saw thick black smoke pouring out from the unit. Firefighters had to force their way inside through the front door and found a 70-year-old uncle lying unresponsive in the living room, which was filled with items.

They brought him out and performed CPR immediately before taking him to Changi General Hospital, but sadly, he passed away. About 80 residents had to be evacuated in their pajamas in the middle of the night while SCDF extinguished the flames.

Just a few weeks before that on June 30, 2026, around 5:15 PM, flames and thick black smoke started billowing out from a 10th-floor unit at Block 512 Wellington Circle in Sembawang.

Crowds gathered at the void deck watching SCDF pump water with their water jet to put out the bedroom fire. A 46-year-old woman was taken to Singapore General Hospital for smoke inhalation.

Usually you think it is unattended cooking or a faulty power bank, but then came the plot twist: Police arrested the 46-year-old woman for alleged mischief by fire! Turns out it wasn’t just an accidental electrical short circuit—authorities stepped in to investigate if someone lit it up on purpose.

4. The Jiangsu Incident: Tragedy in China 🇨🇳

While our SCDF firefighters acted with urgency, a heartbreaking tragedy happened in Jiangsu, China, on July 27!

A fire broke out on the 5th floor, trapping a 42-year-old mother and her 3-year-old daughter. With no way out, they climbed out the window, hanging onto the ledge for dear life while waiting for rescue!

Firefighters on the ground arrived, but instead of setting up a safety net or bringing up a ladder immediately, they aimed a high-pressure water jet directly at that same window! The powerful water blast made the ledge slippery and impossible to hold onto—the mother and daughter lost their grip and fell from the 5th floor. The 3-year-old girl tragically died, and the mother ended up in ICU, leaving netizens furious over the poor decision-making on scene.
