When a man wielding a samurai sword began slashing at passing cars and pedestrians in Buangkok, delivery driver Amila Chinthana was hit and injured by the blade. Despite being slashed, Amila stood his ground, used his grocery bags as a shield, and tackled the attacker to the wet ground when he slipped. Joined by other passersby, they pinned the sword-wielding man down until law enforcement swept in.

6. The Commonwealth Chopper Intervention

When a youth went on a slashing spree with a knife and chopper near Commonwealth, three everyday citizens—including one who was already injured—stepped up to protect the public. Fearing for children playing in a nearby park, they grabbed chairs and poles from nearby shops to corner the attacker and force him to drop his weapons.
