Grab your cup of kopi-O kosong, pull up a plastic stool, and let’s talk about Singapore’s very own low-budget undercover agent. You might have seen the viral video floating around—starring a 49-year-old uncle who clearly watched way too many spy thrillers and thought he was James Bond. Except instead of saving the world, his grand mission in life was tailing young schoolgirls around the Marymount and Raffles Institution (RI) area.
High-Tech Gear, Low-Tech Panic
Our hero was rocking a pair of trendy black-rimmed “smart glasses” with built-in spy cameras, holding his phone right against his chest like he was trying to scan an invisible hawker center QR code. Real slick, right?
Wrong. His high-tech espionage career came crashing down faster than a house of cards when an eagle-eyed member of the public spotted him, pulled out a phone, and started recording his creepy stroll. The moment uncle realized he was the star of someone else’s video, his soul instantly exited his body. In pure panic, he aggressively tapped the frame of his sci-fi specs like he was trying to call Mission Control, pulled a blur-sotong U-turn, and speed-walked away like his shorts were on fire.
The Internet CID Unmasks a Serial Offender
Of course, the internet being the ultimate CID department, it didn’t take long for kaypoh netizens to do what they do best. People squinted at the video, went “Eh wait hor, why this blur face so familiar?”, and unmasked him as 49-year-old Fong Poh Kuen.
Turns out, this uncle isn’t just some random street creep—he’s a VIP lifetime subscriber to the Changi Prison loyalty program! Fong is a certified, card-carrying recalcitrant offender who has already been convicted and jailed three times for his creepy antics.
A Masterclass in Creepiness: His Past Criminal Resume
Fong’s rap sheet is practically a masterclass in how to waste police resources and terrorize students:
- The 2019 Warning: He was first convicted of harassment and let off with an $8,000 fine. Naturally, he learned zero lessons.
- The Fake Survey Era (2020–2023): He loved to loiter around junior colleges (like ACJC and TMJC) and universities. His signature move? Approaching young female students with blank forms pretending to conduct an “education survey” for a government body or school. He would secretly film them using pinhole camera specs or his breast-pocket phone, harvest their personal data via university alumni portals, and then stalk them with creepy text messages.
- The 647 Photos Raid: When police finally raided his house during an investigation, they recovered 647 unauthorized photos of women and girls hidden inside a password-encrypted “calculator” app on his phone.
- The 18-Month Slammer Stint: In August 2023, after multiple land divisions spent over 600 hours investigating him, he pleaded guilty to 13 charges (including 9 counts of harassment) and was locked away for 18 months.
Shockingly, even after getting out, he couldn’t stop. He was arrested again in late 2024, bailed out, went right back to snapping photos at universities in 2025, and got handed another 30 weeks’ jail in February 2026. His defense lawyer even claimed in court that Fong suffered from a personality disorder and wanted to gather data to become an insurance agent again—though the courts weren’t buying those excuses.
Facing a Fourth Strike?
So there he was, fresh out of his previous legal troubles, thinking he found a loophole by upgrading from clipboards and fake surveys to Terminator-style smart glasses. Instead, he just made himself an obvious walking meme.
Now, the Singapore Police Force are investigating his latest stunt, the RI principal has deployed heavy-duty security patrols during school dismissal, and uncle’s next high-tech accessory is definitely going to be a shiny pair of government-issued steel bracelets.
Eh uncle, wear smart glasses also cannot upgrade a blur brain. Time to retire from the spy game permanently!
